More Europe-external cultural relations in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Brüssel and Europa Netzwerk Deutsch organised a debate on:

"Current challenges of the foreign policy of the European Union"

What kind of foreign policy, what kind of diplomacy for the European Union?

A discussion between MEP Alexander Graf Lambsdorff and the Vice-Secretary General of the EEAS, Maciej Popowski will took place at the Goethe-Institut Brüssel.

The debate focused on the current set of missions that the foreign policy of the European Union must fulfil. How can the European foreign policy work strategically and look towards the future when obstacles are increasingly important and resources ever more limited? In the new world order of the 21st century, how is Europe perceived by its partners? Can culture be an instrument of the EU's external policy?

Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, Vice-Chair of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, and Maciej Popowski, Vice-Secretary General of the European External Action Service discussed with Director of the Goethe-Institut Brüssel Berthold Franke, on possible strategic frameworks for EU diplomacy.
