Laurent Burin des Roziers joined the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 as Technical Adviser to the Cabinets of Thierry de Beaucé, and then Georges Kiejman. As an expert on the international audiovisual sector, he was appointed to the "Centre d’analyse et de prévision", and then to the External Audiovisual Department, as special Adviser and Deputy Director, before being appointed Deputy Cultural Councillor to the United States in 1998.
He returned to Paris in 2002 in the General Direction of International Cooperation and Development, as Deputy Director of Cultural and Artistic Cooperation. In 2007, he was appointed Curator of the “European Cultural Season" organised by CulturesFrance under the French Presidency of the European Union. He then participated in the preparation of the establishment of the French Institute. Since the 1st of September 2010, he is Cultural Councillor and Director of the French Institute of the United Kingdom.
He was a lecturer at Sciences Po. from 1988 to 1998.
