Moukhtar Kocache is a curator and arts manager. He recently worked on the development and sustainability of arts and cultural spaces, networks and service infrastructure as a Program Officer at the Ford Foundation's Cairo office. His grant-making supported small to mid-sized organizations and focused on creativity, discourse, arts education, cultural development and local philanthropy in Egypt, occupied Palestine and Lebanon with some programming in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
From 1998 to 2004, he was Director of Programs and Services at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) where he ran residencies, managed and organized exhibitions and festivals, and consulted for and worked with art galleries, museums and nonprofit organizations in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
He received an M.A. from Columbia University in art management and art history and has taught university level seminars, presented papers, been a keynote speaker at various institutions, and has published critical texts in catalogs and periodicals.
