Workshop Culture & Conflict in EU External Relations. The Case of Ukraine.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014 - 09:15
Event category:

Following the More Europe policy paper on The Power of Culture in Reconciliation in the Ukraine Crisis published on the 10th of July 2014, More Europe – external cultural relations and (the) Salzburg Global Seminar (SGS) recently organised a workshop on the topic of culture and conflicts with a special focus on Ukraine.

The main goal of this seminar – supported by the EU’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP) –  was to encourage the participants to rethink the relationship between foreign policies and culture and how this relationship should be articulated in conflict areas such as Ukraine: this can be done both with pre-existing frameworks/tools like the EU's IcSP but participants were also encouraged to search for new tracks/paths.

The workshop was a great success and the outcome revealed itself to be very stimulating and encouraging for the future of external cultural relations.

The team of More Europe would like to thank the following cultural operators for their valuable contribution to this rewarding “project” :

  • Anya Medvedeva, Communications Director, IZOLYATSIA, Platform for Cultural Initiatives, Donetsk, Ukraine
  • Elena Tupyseva, Director and Co-Founder TsEKh, Moscow, Russia
  • Hjalmar Jorge Joffre-Eichhorn, Founder, Theater for Dialogue, Kiev, Ukraine
  • Oksana Forostyna, Executive Editor, Krytyka; Journalist & Writer, Kyiv, Ukraine
  • Tina Ellen Lee, Artistic Director, Opera Circus, Doreset, United Kingdom
